As most high street stores have already begun their summer sales, with some stores offering discounts for a number of weeks now, you'll be forgiving for thinking that most of the best bargains have been snapped up. But there are still great bargains to be had as most stores offer their best discounts as their sale comes to a close. The majority of stores will drop their prices further, so if you are in the market for a new top, dress or pair of shoes, but have been unwilling to spend too much on the purchase, now is your chance to pounce! House of Fraser has up to 70 per cent off and Bershka are offering leather jackets (a wardrobe staple) for as little as 60 euro.
Leaving aside high street stores, summer is a great time for open air markets. You never know what you might pick up, which is part of the excitement of shopping at markets in my opinion. They're great for sourcing unique and appealing pieces of jewellery, bags and wallets. If holidaying abroad be sure to find the market nearest you as they can be great for locating top quality leather bags.
Finally, if you've decided to holiday at home, an activity often referred to as a "staycation", check out the local shops and boutiques, particularly in small towns and villages. I have found some unbelievable bargains in small towns in recent weeks as local stores have also begun their summer sales. The key to bargain hunting is never be afraid to look in any shop, irrespective of its appearance, because shops you are most doubtful or unsure about at first can sometimes prove to be the most rewarding in terms of bagging a bargain. Happy shopping.
